India to declassify Liberation War files

Delhi, June 15: Fifty years after the historic War of Liberation, that helped a land shed the tag of East Pakistan and led to the birth of Bangladesh, the Indian government has decided to declassify all documents pertaining to the freedom struggle.

12,116 heroic freedom fighters placed in third list

Dhaka, June 8: The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has published the names of 12,116 heroic freedom fighters (muktijoddhas) from 388 upazilas in eight divisions. The list was published on Monday (June 7).

State title of 4 Bangabandhu killers cancelled

Dhaka, June 7: The Ministry of Liberation War has issued a notification cancelling the state titles of four Bangabandhu killers. Now it will be published in gazette form.

Names of 6,988 freedom fighters published in second phase

Dhaka, May 10: The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has released the second part of the final list of names of heroic freedom fighters. It contains the names of 6,988 heroic freedom fighters from eight divisions. This list can be found on the website of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs. This information was given by the ministry on Sunday (May 9).

Even real freedom fighters are being harassed due to age issues: Appellate Division

Dhaka, April 23: The Appellate Division has commented that real freedom fighters are being harassed in many cases due to age differences. 1,932 freedom fighters face age issues

Dhaka, April 21: According to the date of birth of the National Identity Card (NID), the minimum age condition of 1,932 heroic freedom fighters is not being fulfilled. Therefore, the government has given time till May 10 to amend the NID of these freedom fighters.

All heroic freedom fighters will get festival-new year-victory day allowance

Dhaka, April 5: Two festival allowances at the rate of Tk 10,000 per annum will be given to the heroic freedom fighters and at the same time two thousand rupees will be given to the families of the heroic freedom fighters, war wounded heroic freedom fighters and martyred heroic freedom fighters as Bengali New Year allowance. In addition, five thousand taka will be given as a great Victory Day allowance to the survivors of the title-winning, war-wounded and martyred freedom fighters.

Dhaka, March 26: The government has published the final list of heroic freedom fighters. The list published by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs contains the names of one lakh 46 thousand 536 heroic freedom fighters. Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque unveiled the list at a press conference on Thursday (March 25).

30,000 indigent freedom fighters to get houses

Dhaka, March 16: The government will build 30,000 houses or 'heroic homes' for the indigent freedom fighters, biranganas, martyred freedom fighters, widows and children of the late freedom fighters. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will give the residences as gifts on the occasion of Mujib Borsho and 50 years of Independence celebrations including enhancing their social status and socio-economic development.

Correction of freedom fighters list by March 15

Dhaka, March 5: The government will release the final list of heroic freedom fighters on March 26. Therefore, the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has given a deadline of March 15 to correct the informational errors of the freedom fighters listed online. On Wednesday (March 3), the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs sent a letter to all the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) requesting them to rectify the mistakes of the heroic freedom fighters.

30,000 houses to be built for heroic freedom fighters

Dhaka, March 3: Thirty thousand homes will be built for the indigent freedom fighters. Minister AKM Mozammel Haque said the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs was working on the issue.
