Italy: Travel restrictions relaxed for Bangladeshis

Dhaka, August 31: Italy's health ministry has relaxed travel bans for Bangladeshis. It will be effective from late night today, Tuesday (August 31). The matter was reported in a Facebook post of the Bangladesh Embassy in Rome on Monday (August 30).

Sundarbans to open to tourists from September 1

Dhaka, August 30: After more than a year and a half, tourists will get the opportunity to enter the Sundarbans from September 1. They can go to all the spots of Sundarbans, including Karamjal. At the same time, pass permits will be issued for extraction of forest resources in the Sundarbans.

Dhaka, August 29: Flights between Bangladesh and India will resume on September 3.

Oman lifts travel ban on Bangladesh, to allow entry into country from September 1

Dhaka, August 24: Oman has lifted its travel ban on 18 countries, incluidng Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. According to the country's Civil Aviation Authority, the new rule will come into effect from September 1.

Dhaka-Narayanganj trains from today

Dhaka, August 19: One week after the relaxation of strict restrictions, train services on the the Dhaka-Narayanganj route has been opened. However, instead of 16 pairs, 10 pairs of trains will run for the time being. The train will start running from Thursday (August 19) morning.

Another 36 pairs of trains will run from tomorrow

Dhaka, August 18: After a long hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, 36 pairs of intercity trains have started operating from August 11. On Thursday (August 19), 12 more pairs of intercity and 24 pairs of commuter, local and DEMU (Diesel Electric Multiple Units) trains will run.

Launch to operate with full capacity, extra fares reduced

Dhaka, August 11: The launch will operate with 100 percent passengers from Wednesday. The extra fare for the launch has been withdrawn. The decision was taken at a meeting at the secretariat on Tuesday (August 10). State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury gave this information at the end of the meeting.

Hike in launch fares, bus remains unchanged

Dhaka, August 9: In the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, buses, trains and launches will operate as usual with maximum capacity from next Wednesday (August 11). Although there is no increased fare for the bus, people using launch services will have to pay extra. On Sunday (August 8) afternoon, a circular signed by Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration Rezaul Islam informed about the opening of public transport.

Dhaka, July 30: A new door of Bangladesh-India trade will be opened after 65 years, with a freight train arriving in the country from the neighbouring nation through the Chilahati-Haldibari route. By using this route, passengers of the two countries will be able to save time by travelling 150 kilometers less than usual.

Ferry service on Shimulia-Banglabazar route suspended

Dhaka, July 29: All types of ferry services on the Shimulia-Banglabazar route have been suspended due to turbulent Padma River. All types of ferry services have been suspended from 12 noon on Thursday (July 29), BIWTC's Shimulia Ghat Assistant Manager (Commerce) Faisal Ahmed said.

Flights of 3 airlines on domestic routes for travellers going abroad

Dhaka, July 23: The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has relaxed its decision to suspend all domestic flights during the lockdown that began in the early hours of Friday (July 23). Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US-Bangla Airlines and NovoAir have been given the opportunity to operate domestic flights conditionally for passengers travelling abroad.

No bus-train-launch services during hard lockdown

Dhaka, July 23: All types of passenger transport on roads, ships and railways will be closed during the hard lockdown- which has started from 6 am on July 23- to stem the increase in virus transmission and cut down health risks.
