Standing Committee recommends digital certificates for heroic freedom fighters

Dhaka, September 9: The Standing Committee of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has recommended to provide digital certificates, digital identity cards and a medal to the heroic freedom fighters, so that they can avail all the facilities announced by the government without any hindrance. The recommendation was made at the 21st meeting held at the Parliament House on Wednesday (September 8).

Medical grants of the heroic freedom fighters increased, scope of assistance decreased

Dhaka, September 6: The amount of medical grant for the heroic freedom fighters increased from the lease income of the government markets. However, with this money, the scope of assistance to the freedom fighters has decreased.

1,83,560 gazetted freedom fighters in the country

Dhaka, September 4: The number of gazetted freedom fighters in the country is 1,83,560 people. Liberation War Affairs Minister AQM Mozammel Haque made the remarks in response to a question from Nurunnabi Chowdhury, a ruling party MP from Bhola-3 constituency, during a question-and-answer session at the 14th session of the 11th National Assembly on Saturday (September 4).

21 women recognised as freedom fighters

Dhaka, September 1: Twenty-one more women who were tortured by the Pakistani forces and their allies in the war of liberation were recognized as freedom fighters. The government has issued a gazette on August 24 recognizing these heroic freedom fighters. The Biranganas (female freedom fighters) got this recognition as per the decision of the 75th meeting of the National Freedom Fighters Council (Jamuka). With this, the number of Biranganas recognized as heroic freedom fighters stood at 438.

Liberation War Affairs Minister requests India to hand over memorial house of the Mujibnagar government in Kolkata

Dhaka, August 30: Liberation War Affairs Minister AQM Mozammel Haque has requested India to hand over the memorial house of the Mujibnagar government formed during the Great Liberation War to Bangladesh. The minister made the request when Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Vikram Kumar Doraiswami visited the Liberation War Affairs Ministry office in Dhaka on Sunday (August 29). This information was given in a notification of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.

Government announces "Liberation War Award"

Dhaka, August 10: The government has introduced the 'Liberation War Award' in recognition of the important contribution of individuals and organizations or organizations in the great Liberation War, preservation of the memory of the Liberation War and development of consciousness. The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has made 'Liberation War Award Policy-2021' to give this medal. Former Principal Secretary to Prime Minister and Freedom Fighter SA Samad dies

Dhaka, July 29: Former Private Secretary to Bangabandhu and former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Dr Syed Abdus Samad, has passed away. (Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajeun). He breathed his last at his residence in Baridhara in the capital on Wednesday afternoon. He was 79 years old. Dr Samad was a bachelor.

Dhaka, July 22: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent gifts to the families of war-wounded and martyred freedom fighters. On the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, she sent fruits and sweets to the heroic freedom fighters living at the War Wounded Freedom Rehabilitation Center (Freedom Fighter Tower-1) on Ghaznabi Road in Mohammadpur on Wednesday (July 21).

12 UK expats recognised as freedom fighters

Dhaka, July 20: In recognition of their special contribution to the formation of world public opinion for the independence of Bangladesh, the government has recognized 12 expatriates in the United Kingdom at that time (1971) as freedom fighters. On 13 July, a notification was issued by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs recognizing them as freedom fighters. Later on Sunday (July 18) it was published in the form of a gazette. Earlier, the decision was taken at the 74th meeting of the National Freedom Fighters Council.

Ministry of Liberation War Affairs publishes names of another 2973 heroic freedom fighters

Dhaka, June 25: The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has published a comprehensive list of names of heroic freedom fighters. In the fourth list, the names of 2,973 heroic freedom fighters from 55 upazilas of eight divisions have been published after the regularization of the civilian gazette that was made without the approval of the National Freedom Fighters Council (Jamuka).

Freedom fighters to get Tk 20,000 every month from July

Dhaka, June 21: From July, the honorarium of every heroic freedom fighter will be increased to Tk 20,000, said Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque. The minister was speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed Dhaka District Muktijoddha Complex building in the capital on Sunday (June 20). At present the monthly allowance of the heroic freedom fighters is Tk 12,000.
